CAPTAIN PHILLIPS MOVIE REVIEW

Captain Phillips' Attacks The Movies
By: Yelenna James

I just saw the most emotional movie and was so moving it almost made me cry. The action in it and the raw action that the actors where doing made the movie so realistic. In the beiggining you would think that it would be easy to understand but then pirates come and try to be all sneaky. During the movie it's all mysterious and what going to happen next to anybody in the movie not just the main character.

This story is adventurous and outgoing, Captain phillips is trying to move a cargo ship along the edge of Africa, then pirates happen to come and try to take over to get money but a plot twist happens. It happens on the sea by Africa and happened in 2009. It's mainly about trying to get out of s sticky situation but it gets really hard and you start to lose faith.

I thought al the actors did a great job, but the actress who played Captain Phillips wife, could of put more emption into the part she was playing. She seemed scared in the beginning and i thought del if she really loves him and supports him, she would show that in the part. What i saw during her one scene was that she was freaking and maybe that's al it was supposed to be but i thought it seemed a little weird for a wife to just be freaking out the whole time.

I loved the raw emotion included into the story and hype about getting Phllip back to shore. Even though the movie was really good, i thought some parts where just a little dragged on in some cases. There could of been more emotion coming off from the pirates but i guess sees they didn't really care about what was going to happen it shouldn't of mattered. The crew was mediocre because they where only in a few scenes but they didn't really seem to the like captain of the ship but i loved when they tried to leave.

I learned that maybe you shouldn't trust people you know you should't, because if you know that it's wrong then you should also know that it's not going to work out in the end. Others who watch this movie should learn that if your the leader of something like team then take one for the team and don't let them get hurt or in danger. Always, always believe theres something good at the end, never give up and think you won't make it because at the time it doesn't look good, but it will later on.

I think mainly adults would like this movie for the fact it's about a true story where pirates try and take the ship and teenagers wouldn't really like that. I wouldn't recommend this for such a young audience because they would;t find it interesting. it;s pg-13. Finally this movie is incredible, just outstanding.

This movie is 9/10 stars (:

LONESTAR DISPATCH #6

1)
Front Page-  (District in line to make major school schedule changes) Next school year because of the new student sharing program , the schedule has cnaged dramatically. Now instead of switching off A and B days, all monday's and thursday's are now A days and Tuesday's and Wednesday's are B days. The time has changed to school staring at 9 am and ending at 4:20pm. FIT next year for students who are doing the student sharing (ME)  is used for getting back to school.

Student Life- (At last, three months of sweet, sweet freedom) Summertime is coming now that school is ending, and students are going to explore the world preparing for the next school year. Students are getting jobs to start saving money up for themselves. Some of them are getting jobs to help with their career in school like the silver star is working at a fitness center.

News- (News schedules bring greater challenges on campus) Because of the new student sharing program, theres going to be an enormous amount of new issues, this issue comes forward to Ruth Ann Widner who dislikes the new schedule due to it may have unbalanced A and B day. She talks about messed up A days and extra B days and sue classes will have longer access due to the weekends.

Sports- (spring ball winds down to an end) The baseball team worked so hard this year with 20 wins, due to the hard work put into the team they have lead to success. They went to Quoater finals as area championships, they've suffered some loses but that didn't make them lazy. All the players are staying in the third round of playoffs.

Entertainment- ( Avengers of ultron) The 2nd avengers movie was so great that people says its so much better than the first, which says a lot sense the first was one was a big hit too. In the second one they final;y tell us the story behind the black widow who was trained and beaten into the assain she is today. of source the avengers took the in against the ultron. The ending did not prepare the audience for the next movie coming out in 2018.

Commentary- ( Why can't teens have fun?) Teens in high are getting prepared for college and to step into the real world and face adultery, now high school is forcing teens to do certain things. the article talks about how school is more like job then a great experience in life, that we loved school in elementary and wore smiles on our faces, now in high school we dread going to school for even two hours. High school stresses out the students and we don't want to have fun, but what everyone talks about is that high school was the greatest experience of their life now it's just awful because of all the work.

2) On each page that i saw, the illustrations where really interesting and fun to look at, the one little thing i loved on the side of the articles was the ACL lineup. I thought that was actually very useful for students who maybe are going or want to go. For the avengers article i like how she created a little ticket with the movie information for students who would like to know about the details. Overall everything was awesome and useful for students and fun to look at.

3) The graphic in my opinion that was the strongest was the baseball photo from the article 'Spring ball winds down to an end', because you can see his face expression and the action in the photo, all the hard work he's putting into the throw and the stance he was in doing the action is just incredible. I love it, you can defiantly just write a story from looking at this picture.

4) The silver stars photo where the girl's hands are in the air and they're in position, I don't really like this picture because you obviously can tell they're dancing but it just does't draw my attention to the story at all. It shows no emotion in the picture, the quality of this picture it;s the greatest but it's also not the worst. The lighting in the picture makes me not really want to look at it.

5) The artists' message is that, the student sharing program should't be aloud and they should cut the program because it's causing too many problems to the school.

MOVIE PREP

PITCH NON-PERFECT?
1. The Hollywood reporter

2. Leslie Felperin

3. on a 1-10 maybe a 8

4. the peformances from the movie where spot on and humor

5. some of it was mostly like the first movie like the harmony bewtween the bellas

6."  That means some endearing elements from the first movie, like the romance between Beca (Anna Kendrick) and her tenor boyfriend Jesse (Skylar Astin), barely get a look-in, and the number of cameos from famous faces is beginning to approach Anchorman-like levels of overkill. But none of that will stop this from being a smash, likely to outstrip the $112 million-plus worldwide takings of its sleeper antecedent in every territory." - hollywood reporter

CAPTAIN PHILLIPS MOVIE PREP

1. Richard Phillips, the Somali Pirates, Andrea Phillips, and the crew

2. In the movie i expect for Captain Phillips to get captured after having a rough conversation with the pirates that try to take over the ship but fail due to the crew. Captain Phillips will maybe get the crew off the ship but probably fail at that, hoping none of the pirates take the crew. Sense the pirates left their little motor boats in the water i don't know how they'll escape with phillips.

Later in the movie after they take phillips they find another boat and try to take him to their boss to get money for him instead of the boat sense the pirates couldn't get the boat. Maybe they'll kill him in the movie or violently hurt him but in real life he was saved so i think that'll happen at the very end.

3. It's the first pirate capturing sense the 19th century of the United States

4. The pirates wanted millions of dollars

1. Tom Hanks, Catherine Keener, Barkhad Abdi, David Warshofsky

6. the movie costed $55,000,000

7. the reactions where really great, people loved the movie almost 9 out 10 stars

8. Other movie reviews thought it was great acting and storyline they did a great job at making it seem so real

5. I think bruce jenner should do whatever makes him happy like every human being on this plannet, i mean no one can really stop him because that's not fair to him and what he feels on the inside about his sexuality.

SHORT ANSWER:

Well this article almost brought me to tears for one thing and the other is that, these people are terffied and it's not right they need help. They're probably don't know what to feel because they're feelings too many things at once, they need help to recover before some of them do things they'll regrett later on. Reading this just makes me wish Obama would actually do something for them or other poeple would start a program for them to help somehow.

CURRENT EVENT #6.2

1. 9 people were killed in the shooting and the other 9 where horribly injured, it took place at the twin peaks restaurant in waco, 25 to 70 people where detained for questioning

2. tax cuts talk, budget debate, abortion, gun bills, and boarder security are the five topics the legislative are going to plan on discussing

3. Over the past week Barton Creek has gotten up to 7.5 inches of rain while loop 360 had the highest total. Later on 2.91 inches of rain came down at Barton Creek on loop 360, a 12 hour delay came in for that tuesday for the UIL Tennis Championships. Pace Bend boat ramp, the only public ramp that is not high and dry on the lake has been less than 40% full, has been closed for 3 three days and has finally reopened at Lake Travis. The first time in three years there has been zero Texas counties in a drought due to all the rain. A prediction was made by Bob Rose (meteorologist) of a number of 100-degree days this summer, which now in a live American Statesman chat he wonders why he even predicted that. Mellioz Tacos on South First Street dropped prices during the rain from $3.37 to $2 which is known as the "rainy day" prices, the C0-owner likes to stay open during the rain for hungry customers, unless its hurricane like weather.

4. Real state agent Julie ray has been using her iPhone and FaceTime video to help send images of the property like the bathrooms and trees to buyers in switzerland.

5. Because the money only applies to the passengers.

SHORT ANSWER:

I mean theres barely anything anyone can really do, there's always going to be those attackers for no reason. What I really think is that they shouldn't kill him for the reason that it would hurt people who mane worked with him or something and they might wan to make a point, so they'll go off and kill random people as well to keep him in memory. But if they put him in jail then theres a chance he could escape but not unless it was like an Army based prison or something high tech, he would't be able to get out.

magazines part II

The earlier magazines did not tend to use covers like we do know, their "cover" was the title and table of contents, but when they did use the cover they used something like a book but without word descriptions. Also they started to use small illustrations with other things on the new covers. 1890 is when they started to use actual overs with no words needed because the cover explained it all, the cover illustration had do with the main article in the magazine. Later on they started to used actual pictures of other people like portraits. Pictures married to type is where the writer uses a great cover line to catch the readers eye better then the art can. The cover lines are supposed to help with dialogue and with the pictures. The cover lines are now in front of the pictures and art, the pictures are in the background and the cover lines take the lead while it looks like art. The topics of the magazine are informed on the front with the cover lines.

MY FAVORITE COVER!

CRITIQUE- The emotion on her face shows that she's in her environment with the out going red dress and molding in it. The way she's hunched over and with her head up, to me shows thats what she was feeling at the moment, and to make the dress more dramatic. Just standing up or sitting straight up doesn't add the same dramatic pose as it does with being hunched over and head up with a smile. She looks very proper and formal but she's in her own environment. I love the dress but the color o the dress just seems so gaga its her and its original, it's communicating her feelings and what she's like, the lighting is what makes the color and dress pop out with her facial expression.

MAGAZINE TIPS :)

    You should be thinking about...

1. how to get the readers attention to the cover of your magazine, what would people be drawn too? you don't want the customers just to walk by your magazine, the magazine cover should be jaw dropping where the customers stop and pick it up.

2. what stories should be involved the magazine, when someone opens up the magazine and see your articles they should want to keep reading not think its boring and put it down, think about what type of article will keep the readers attention.

3. the fonts and extras in the magazine like "facts" about certain people or "tips" on how to make or do something, the fonts will let the reader want to read it just from the design.

4. the pictures inside the magazine, if the articles don't work then the photos will, the great photos should make the reader want to keep looking into the magazine for more.

5. putting it all together, the magazine should have some sort of theme, it shouldn't just have a whole bunch pf random things that doesn't make sense for them to be in the magazine.

SELF PORTRAIT AND PORTRAITS

TIPS:
The Rule of Thirds is one that can be effective to break – placing your subject either dead centre can sometimes create a powerful image – or even creative placement with your subject right on the edge of a shot can sometimes create interesting images.

Photograph your subject at work, with family or doing something that they love. This will put them more at ease and you can end up getting some special shots with them reacting naturally to the situation that they are in. You might even want to grab a longer zoom lens to take you out of their immediate zone and get really paparazzi with them.

Focus upon one element of the image and leave your main subject blurred. To do this use a large aperture which will create a narrow depth of field and focus upon something in front of or behind your subject.

This is my favorite because even though you can;t see her full face you can see the expression she's making which is motivation and hard work and i love the unique pose she's in at the moment.

I love this one because you can see the shadow in the window and her face expression is just mysterious like i want to know why she made that made in a window and took the picture, i love the scenery in the background

This one I love because you can see the detail in his face and the emotion thats attached, i picked it because it's close up and just unique in it's own ways usually people want to do young people in portraits but i love that its an old man

1. That the person is in their element and environment doing what they do
2. An environmental is where they're in their place and it;s an action but a casual is the face close up in the face in a different angle
3. Show different angle but close up
4. I want to take these pictures in an open field of people spread out ad take a picture of each one doing what they do for environment and a person just looking away for casual

CURRENT EVENT QUIZ 5.2

1. By next month they will present an option for the overcrowding called liberal transfer policy

4. Micro units are smaller more moderately priced apartments for east side of austin theres going to be more then 260 with 400 square feet, a quoter of the units will be set aside for people who earn 50 percent to 70 percent less than Austin's median family income.

5. Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa stat, Baylor and West Virginia are the top five locks

SHORT ANSWER:

1.  I don't think they should of expelled them, maybe off days of school for a little bit but not totally expel them, i mean it was wrong and yeah they should be punished, expellshon is too much. The worst they should of done was suspend them and take away the club and make the students not be able to join any other clubs but at least let them finish the semester sense it's almost over

2. they should make a rule because they are saying is harsh to other students, so rues should be applied

3. i would try to stop it because it hurts they're feelings and make them feel out of place which isn;t right

4. I wouldn't record it because that's rude even if it is to turn them in

5. no because i'm sure people worked really hard for the organization and just because some students said some stuff isn't fair for the rest of the students
